Urological & Robotic Surgeon
Dr Mark Liu is a consultant urologist and robotic surgeon at the Sydney Adventist and Macquarie University Hospitals. He also holds public appointments at Concord Repatriation General Hospital and Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hospital.
He is skilled in the management of a broad range of urological conditions. His areas of subspecialty expertise are urological cancers of the kidney, prostate, bladder and adrenal. Mark is passionate about minimally invasive surgery and cutting-edge treatments. He also offers the latest treatment options for patients with benign prostatic enlargement and stone disease.
He graduated from the University of New South Wales in 2008 and completed internship and residency at the Concord Repatriation General Hospital. He was admitted as a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons after six years of surgical training across Australia. During this period, he completed the Master of Surgery at the University of Sydney with a dissertation on the management of renal tumours.
He then completed urological cancer fellowship at the world-renowned the Royal Marsden Hospital in London (UK), the world’s first cancer hospital and one of the Europe’s largest cancer centres.
Following that, he undertook fellowship in minimally invasive surgery at the Wake Forest Medical Centre (North Carolina, USA), one of the top academic institutions in North America and home to one of 51 NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Centres in the United States. Whilst in America, he was a member of the Urology Faculty and operated as an attending urological surgeon.
During these periods, He was mentored by world-class leaders and pioneers in the field of robotic and cancer surgery.
Over the years, Mark has made significant academic contributions with many indexed publications, national and international presentations to his credit. He is currently a senior clinical lecturer at the Macquarie University, Faculty of Medicine, Health and Human Sciences. He is also a proctor in robotic surgery and is frequently requested to proctor other colleagues in robotic surgery and complex cases.
